MEET YOUR SECOND GRADE TEACHERS
COLLEEN TALBOT
Teaching 2nd grade at Meadow Elementary has been a great experience! I have been a teacher for 31 years and I have taught at Meadow for the past 6 years. I was a Kindergarten teacher for 13 years before moving into 2nd grade. Children make me happy because they are so excited about learning. I have 4 grown children and I am lucky to have 15 grandchildren who love to do fun activities with me such as crafts, reading, traveling, cooking, and swimming. The best part of being a career teacher is the opportunity to learn and try new ideas in the classroom. Being a life long learner is what I strive for everyday!

ASHLEY HIX
I grew up in Orem, Utah as the youngest child of six. My parents are my heroes because of their endless generosity and because they taught me the importance of helping others and of making life fun. I attended Mountain View High School and took a class where I got to teach preschool. It was that class that convinced me that I wanted to be a teacher. After high school, I went on to Utah Valley State College and graduated in 2007. This will be my sixth year teaching and I’m excited to get to know my new class. I feel a special connection with Meadow because my grandma, Echo Willes, grew up just down the street and used to play in the area where our school is built. At home I like to spend my time reading, crafting, running, baking, and hanging out with my husband, Jordan and our dog, Sunny. We love to visit new places together and learn about the world around us. My favorite thing to teach is reading. I have loved reading as long as I can remember and now I hope to share that love with all of my students. It’s amazing to see the progress a student can make when they give it their best effort! I am very excited to teach another group of fantastic kiddos!

MANDIE KRAUSE
Hello my name is Mrs. Krause! I was born in California, and at a young age moved to Lindon, Utah. Utah is home, and I absolutely love it. Being the oldest girl in my family, I enjoy spending time with all my siblings and parents. I recently got married where I switched from Miss Maughan to Mrs. Krause, and have enjoyed my new life and family with my husband! I enjoy many things including spending time with my husband, friends, and family. I love the outdoors including boating, swimming, running, cycling, hiking, and rock climbing in the summer, and snowboarding in the winter. I am an avid traveler, and love to get away to new places as often as I can. After studying abroad in Great Britain, I learned to love diversity and have since traveled to many other diverse places. Music is my passion, and I enjoy teaching piano and violin to students. Most of all, I am a passionate reader, one who never finds enough time to read a good book. I love teaching students to read, and more importantly getting them excited about reading. I believe everyone can love to read, it's just a matter of finding what sparks their interest. Since a child, I was determined to be a teacher. It has been my goal in life, and I enjoy every second of it. As a teacher, I am determined to teach each and every child specifically in order to meet their academic needs and more, no matter the cost. I love working at Meadow Elementary- it's a great school with amazing students, parents, and teachers. I look forward to meeting my new students, and I know that this year will be a year to remember!

CYNDE LAUDIE
I was raised in Pocatello, Idaho, attended Ricks College, and then Brigham Young University in Provo, and I've lived in Utah ever since. I have taught for 22 years, including 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and specialties--the last 4 yrs. at Meadow as the Art Specialist. I have loved being at Meadow and working with all the students, faculty and staff. It is a truly amazing place to be. I am a wife, mom of seven, and grandma of four. I love being with my family! We love to camp, hike, backpack, read, work, and watch clean movies together. I love to learn and I love to read---they often go hand in hand. I love music and play the piano, and I love art, though I don't produce much at this point in time. I am excited to be a part of an amazing 2nd grade team, and look forward to teaching and learning many new things this year.

WHITNEY HOLBROOK
Hello!! My name is Whitney Holbrook. I grew up in San Jose, CA with two older sisters and two little brothers. My family spent lots of time hiking and camping and it is still one of our favorite things to do. I now have four adorable nieces and nephews that I love to play with. When I was a little girl I would get in trouble for reading in bed instead of sleeping. I still read all the time-my favorite book is Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. Ever since I can remember I have wanted to be a teacher because children make me so happy with their excitement for learning. I attended BYU so I could learn how to become a teacher and accomplish my dream. I love being at Meadow and being with your children! We are going to have a fantastic year!
